SILT

Six rooms built from five primitives. No color, no textures, one direction of light. Scroll to move the camera through it.

I — Weight

Nothing here is colored.
Everything here is lit.

Fourteen slabs, stacked with a finger of air between them. The gaps do the work: each one catches a shadow the slab above throws, and the stack reads as heavy without a single dark pixel.

Ambient light is deliberately too bright. A crushed shadow in a gray scene erases the object; a lifted one keeps it.

II — Field

A thousand small things
make one horizon.

Every pillar is placed by its index, not by a random number. Height comes from a sine wave, so the crowd is reproducible down to the last capsule and never repeats the same silhouette twice.

III — Alignment

Nothing is attached.
Everything is aligned.

The gates are not arches. They are two columns and a beam that never touch, close enough that the eye completes the joint. The figure is five primitives with pivots at the joints — enough to raise an arm and read as a person.

Turnstile of the room: scroll back and the pose holds, exactly, because nothing is stored between frames.

IV — Settle

Dust remembers
where it landed.

The particles are held at the height they would have reached. Nothing falls here. The only motion is the camera and the ring a click sends across the floor.

Click anywhere on the ground.

V — After

One value wide,
and it is enough.

Ambient occlusion for contact, fog matched exactly to the background, a shadow frustum fitted to the room you are standing in. Depth is the sum of small cues, never one big effect.
